Co-production Week 29 June – 3 July 2026

Co-production brings patients, families, carers and service users together with health and care professionals to design, improve and deliver services. By working in partnership, organisations can create services that better reflect people's needs and experiences.

At Picker, we believe that listening to and working alongside the people who use services is fundamental to delivering high-quality, person centred care. That's why co-production is a crucial part of our work with health organisations.

To mark Co-Production Week, we're celebrating the value of co-production across health and social care and showcasing examples of how our Learning and Development programme has supported organisations to build partnerships and make lasting improvements in care.

What is co-production?

Perspectives on co-production from members of the Picker community

Watch the video below to hear our Learning and Development Lead, Naomi Stockley, speak with two practitioners who have used co-production techniques to develop services and improve patient care. Featuring Juliet Rayment and Sinead Rothrie.

Read Saira Nazeer's blog to discover how Experience-Based Co-Design has shaped her approach to co-production. As a Critical Care Research Therapist at Barts Health NHS Trust, she reflects on moving beyond tokenistic involvement to creating collaborative partnerships with patients and families.

Read our Q&A with Clair Le Boutillier, a senior research fellow in qualitative research at King’s College London. Clair uses a range of co-production techniques, including EBCD and video-reflexive ethnography, to drive improvements in services for people living with a long-term cancer diagnosis.

What does good co-production look like?

Co-production can lead to powerful changes in people's experiences of care. To mark Co-Production Week, we've brought together a collection of videos which demonstrate the impact of co-production and the outcomes of projects we've supported through our Learning and Development programme.

Starting secondary school with Type 1 Diabetes

Freya Brown is a Picker Associate and researcher at the Florence Nightingale Faculty of Nursing, Midwifery and Palliative Care at King’s College London. She ran an EBCD project to develop information for young people with Type 1 diabetes. This video, co-produced with young people with diabetes, was one of the outputs from that work.

Picker and co-production

Co-production is an essential part of our mission to achieve high-quality person-centred care for all.

When people have the knowledge, skills and confidence to work in a person centred way, experiences of care improve for everyone. We offer evidence-based, certified training and tools to support person centred care.

Our courses enable individuals, teams and organisations to embed person centred practice and consistently deliver high-quality care.

Our training is delivered by skilled and experienced faculty. Meet one of our facilitators here:

We also work with organisations to deliver bespoke training to support their needs:
